I am happy to report that the ‘move’ is nearly complete and the offices have been relocated to our new location at 127 Hartwell Street. The move was certainly not an easy venture and the town employees who participated in the move deserve a great deal of credit and appreciation for the efforts they put forth to make the move as successful as possible. I have a few things to mention to everyone about the new offices:
1) There are still some issues relative to the telephones and fax lines – not all of them are fully installed at this point. The problems are being worked on as I write this. If you are trying to contact a Town Office and are unable to reach anyone, please be patient. If it is an emergency, you may contact me at my office at 508-835-3490 and we will try to assist you.
2) If you come to the Town Offices to pay your taxes, visit the Town Clerk, see the Building Inspector or the Board of Health Secretary, or to use the Assessor’s public access computer please use door 2 on the right side of 127 Hartwell Street. If you need to attend an evening meeting in one of our meeting rooms, or see the Council on Aging, the Selectmen’s office or the Town Administrator, please use door 1. Both doors are clearly marked and by using the correct door, you will avoid walking around the new building and not ending up where you need to be.
3) Signage is being ordered and should be installed soon. Please remember that we had to evacuate the Town Hall within a short time frame and adequate signage has not yet been dealt with. When the new sign is in, it will be properly installed and everyone will be able to see where we are.
4) Meeting space is at a premium in the new building. Chairmen of boards and committees who use the Town Offices for meetings will be sent an advisory on how the Meeting space will be assigned. In short, speaking with my office as soon as possible to reserve space is critical.
Once again, I would like to thank all those involved with the move as well as each municipal employee who gave of themselves to demobilize and reestablish the town services in the new location. I would also like to again recognize the patience of all the citizens of the Town who have struggled to conduct business while we moved.
