Due to the move of our Town Offices and some other mini-problems we have had to deal with over the last two months, the West Boylston Wellness Program had to be suspended but that does not mean the Town hasn’t been making progress on our goal to improve the health and wellness of the community.
Just last night, the Town has been recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Office of Emergency Medical Services for our efforts to provide the community with the greatest chance of survival from cardiac arrest. As such we received a certificate designating our community as a HeartSafe Community and you will soon be seeing the signs in the community informing the entire community of our designation. Please see copy of the press release from the ceremony last evening attached to this blog entry.
I hope you will be as proud of our efforts as I am. I am especially proud of the efforts undertaken by Fire Chief Richard Pauley and Captain Dean Kochanowski for their personal efforts in this matter.
Speaking of our Fire Department, I trust that all citizens in the Town share in my relief that the recent fire emergencies in Town have been handled in such a professional matter by our Fire Department and with no loss of life or serious injury. The job of fire officer is a difficult one and I am proud of their work on behalf of the Town. Selectman Allen Phillips was kind enough to send me a photo of the event last night of the fire in the post office plaza on Route 12. If there was ever any doubt of the heroic nature of our fire fighters, this picture will undoubtedly shed that doubt.
