1. Please keep in mind that the van service provided through the WRTA for West Boylston Seniors is PUBIC TRANSPORTATION. At times it may be necessary for clients to go for a ride in order to pick up/deliver other passengers.
2. Please do NOT give verbal or written requests to our drivers. Their job is to safely transport riders to and from their destinations. Under WRTA policy, drivers are not allowed to make scheduling changes. ANY and ALL requests for transportation or rescheduling of transportation must be made through the dispatcher. To reach the dispatcher, please call (508) 835-6916
3. Drivers have a one-hour window in which to pick riders up, in order to get them to their scheduled appointments. This means that if a rider has a 10:00am appointment, that rider is required to be ready for pick up by 9:00am.
4. All riders must call the dispatcher when their appointment is over and the rider is ready to go home. Please remember that we only have one van to accommodate all seniors. Rest assured that we will do our best to pick all riders up in a timely manner.
5. When our van driver arrives for pick-up, riders have 5 minutes, maximum, in which to board the van. If the rider has not boarded within 5 minutes, the driver will contact the dispatcher and he will be instructed to proceed to his next appointed pick up. Please be advised that the driver may not be able to return for negligent riders.
6. All carry-on packages are the soul responsibility of the riders.
7. No food, drink or smoking is allowed on the van.
8. All riders must wear safety belts while the bus is in motion.
9. Drivers are not allowed to leave the bus unattended.
10. If a rider needs to be accompanied by a companion, the dispatcher must be notified in advance. (Seating is limited)
11. All wheelchair riders must have a lap belt on their chairs while riding in the van.
12. Weekly scheduled trips include Wal-Mart on Friday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30
13. Weekly scheduled trips also include food shopping on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 – 10:30.
14. All trips to Holden must be scheduled on Thursdays.
15. Please have exact change for van fare. Change will be given in $1.00 van tickets. No exceptions will be made.
16. In order to cancel a scheduled trip, riders must call at least one hour before scheduled PICK UP TIME. Failure to do so will result in a "No Show." Each "No Show" will be acknowledged by means of a letter to the non-compliant rider. Three unexcused "No Shows" within a three-month period will result in suspension of van service for a period of up to 30 calendar days.
