Compost Bins
Department of Public Works

Limited Time Only - While Supplies Last!

The Town of West Boylston is offering compost bins to its residents at a reduced cost!  The Town has received 60 compost bins through a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection and they will be available on July 2, 2007!

Residents can compost their leaves, grass clippings, fruit peels, vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, and even paper bags!  The composted material, known to gardeners as "black gold", replenishes nutrients in the soil and helps retain moisture, which greatly improves the health of your plants.  Composting these materials is also an excellent way to recycle!

There are two types of compost bins available: the Earth Machine and the New Age Composter (previously Brave New Composter).

The Earth Machine holds 11 cubic feet of material and costs $25.  It has a sliding door at the bottom to remove compost, and a locking lid.

The New Age Composter comes in two sizes: 24 cubic that costs $25 and the other size is 30 cubic feet that costs $30.  They are adjustable, have a cone shaped floor, and a cover.

These compost bins are limited and will be offered on a "first come first served" basis and will initially only be available to West Boylston residents.  You can reserve your bin beginning on June 25th by calling 508-835-4820.

Please visit www.mass.gov/dep/recycle for more information on recycling and
the compost bins.
