July 27, 2010: The DPW cleans all of its catch basins on an annual basis using its catch basin cleaner. There are more than 1,000 catch basins all across town which must be cleaned free of the silt and winter sand that builds up throughout the year. This ensures that the town meets its NPDES Permit requirements as issued by the Environmental Protection Agency and it also ensures that stormwater runoff is properly collected to protect private property and to ensure safe travel for motorists.
