November 22, 2010: The DPW is making final pothole repairs throughout town before snow flies. These repairs are made with bituminous concrete which is a more permanent fix than if cold patch is used. Permanent fixes such as these do not require the DPW to patch the same potholes again and this saves time, materials, and money. The potholes are first cleaned of any loose material, hot bituminous concrete is placed in the pothole, the bituminous concrete is spread to the appropriate depth, and it is finally compacted using the vibratory compactor.
