Flu Facts
Facts on Flu

Flu Season is upon us.  This year we are faced with the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu, also know as the Swine Flu.  Flu can spread easily from person to person and should be taken seriously.  But there are simple things you can do to help prevent getting infected and to reduce the chances of spreading it to others.

Visit the Commonwealth's Department of Public Health site on the flu at www.mass.gov/flu.  And take these simple precautions:

  • Get vaccinated against the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu if you are at risk.
  • Wash you hands often.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.  Wash you hands afterwards.
  • If you get sick, stay at home until you are fever-free (a temperature under 100.4 degrees F.)  for at least 24-hours.  Remember, you must take your temperature when you are free from fever-reducing medication.
To keep up with the latest information from the Department of Public Health, check out their H1N1 blog.
