PUBLIC NOTICE
The West Boylston School Department, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the WINDOW REPLACEMENT: MAJOR EDWARDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 70 CRESCENT STREET, WEST BOYLTON, MA, , in accordance with partial project funding under the MSBA GREEN REPAIR PROGRAM and the documents prepared by REINHARDT ASSOCIATES, INC., 430 MAIN STREET, AGAWAM, MA 01001.
The Project consists of the removal of the existing Wood Windows and Hollow Metal Doors and Frames and the Installation of new aluminum storefront windows, door frames and Fiberglass reinforced polyester doors. The work is estimated to cost
$298,088.00.
Bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management in the following Category: DOORS AND WINDOWS.
Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §26 to 27H inclusive.
General Bids will be received until 12:00 P.M., FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2011 and publicly opened, forthwith at the address below. Mailed Bids should be sent to West Boylston School Department, 125 Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA 01583 and received no later than the date and time specified above.
General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to West Boylston School Department.
Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for pick-up at www.BidDocsOnline.com (may be viewed electronically and hard copy) or at Nashoba Blue, Inc., 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167) on or after October 12, 2011.
There is a plan deposit of $ 50 per set (maximum of 2 sets) payable to BidDocs Online, Inc.
Deposits may be electronically paid or must be a certified or cashier's check. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders and for one set for sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority.
Additional sets may be purchased for $ 50
Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $ 40 per set for UPS Ground (or $ 65 per set for UPS Overnight), payable to BidDocs ONLINE, Inc., to cover mail handling costs.
The Awarding Authority hereby requires that all Bidders show a good faith effort in providing opportunities to eligible, bonafide Minority and Women owned and controlled businesses. The Awarding Authority will not enter into an Agreement or binding Contract with a provider of service unless they have demonstrated a good faith effort in meeting the stated 11.4% of the final contract price, including accepted alternates of which at least 7.4% shall be for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and 4% shall be reserved for Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE).
A MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference and Walk-Thru will be held on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Site.
