The Solid Waste Advisory Team (SWAT) was established by a voted of the Board of Selectmen on August 1, 2007 and first appointed by the Board of Selectmen in September 2007. It is charged with advising the Town Administrator, the Board of Selectmen, and Town Meeting on solid waste issues, including reducing solid waste costs and improving the town's recycling rate.
The Solid Waste Advisory Team consists of 5 citizens, appointed by the Town Administrator for a term of 3 years. The current Town Administrator and DPW Director serve as ex-officio members of this board.
